Your dental implants can last for life
Brand new teeth can be a great life improvement when you may have lost your ability to chew, speak and smile the way you used to or wished for. Under the best circumstances, the new teeth will last for life, bringing you the best possible functionality and comfort. But dental implants require regular professional maintenance as well as proper home care.
Why do new teeth need extra care?
Poor oral hygiene around dental implants may contribute to serious diseases in the tissues surrounding the implants –
peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis, both infectious diseases. The first is an inflammatory condition in the soft tissue, while the second also affects the bone.
These diseases are common. Scientific studies have shown that peri-implant mucositis occurred in approximately 80% of the patients, and peri-implantitis in 28-56% of the patients.*
With proper maintenance, you can contribute to prevent these problems. You should also be aware that smoking is a risk factor which decreases the chance of keeping your teeth and implants healthy.

Different implants – different needs
There are several types of implants, all requiring their special cleaning techniques. TePe has a variety of brushes specially designed for implant cleaning, all developed in cooperation with dental expertise.

Cleaning after surgery
After surgery, it is often recommended to use a gentler brush. TePe Special Care and Gentle Care have ultra soft filaments. TePe also offers a range of extra soft interdental brushes. Ask your dental professional for guidance.
Professional maintenance and proper home care
However comfortable you might be with your new teeth, don’t forget to give them the care and attention they need. Regular check-ups are important to make sure the implants and surrounding tissues are healthy.
